Three weeks: today was supposed to be our first chemo but….
…we had too low a white blood cell count to start. As per every step in this new adventure me and the derpster are going through, I had a mild freak out when they told me….and then I came on Tripawds, read some posts and then calmed down. We are going to give it a week and see if it goes up. Our onco also thinks that shes may just have low WBC to begin with ( she was at 4000 before surgery) and this also may be another “weird greyhound” thing.
I am going to keep feeding her the K9 Immunity Plus, give her as much ice cream as she wants, and wait “patiently” until its better.
On the good side, all else looks well, both the onco and the surgeon are happy with her vitals and her use of the back leg. ( see? exercise is good!) Also, lungs sound strong and clear.
We also received our Tripawds gear today. Hooray! I also bought the Tshirt which i will proudly wear during our physio appointments.
Thanks for the update, and for supporting this community by shopping for Tripawds Gifts!
Hi, Marlie looks great!
So glad you are not letting this tiny “hiccup” ruin your progress & become a downer. You are doing great by her!
What a cutie…. I’m so happy her legs are doing well.
You enjoy your pup and keep us posted.
Aww, I’m sorry the chemo got delayed but as you discovered, it’s not all that uncommon and it doesn’t necessarily mean anything bad, it’s just a precaution.
Your new Tripawd gear will give you both superhero powers to fight this thing, just wait and see!
P.S. Ice cream is soooo tasty but you might want to make sure it’s just a rare treat; cancer cells feed on carbs and sugars.
oh yes, her ice cream dessert consists of her getting to lick a small lump off a teaspoon– not very much, really, but when its something you dont receive often, it feels like a jumbo banana split to her!
and ive found out now that yes, the low WBC IS a weird greyhound thing.
